Michael J. Hart is a proud fifth generation Californian who was born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley where he has lived many years as a resident of the historic Sunny Slope Ranch in Pasadena, Ca. This ranch is an important part of California history as well as Hart's life and career as an artist. Michael Hart’s interest in ranches and the West was part of his family heritage. His Great, Great Grandfather was a buffalo hunter and Texas rancher dating back to 1821 before migrating by wagon train to California in 1851. This family background helped him develop a deep interest and appreciation in Western art and history. His sculpture reflects these deep western roots and he continues to sculpt a variety of wildlife. Adept in diverse artistic endeavors, he has created three-dimensional works in bronze, blacksmithing, wood and stone.
