CONTEMPORARY FIGURATIVE WORK: REFLECTIONS OF THE HUMAN IDENTITY

Adonay Duque (“Duke”), born in Venezuela in 1954, studied at the School of Visual Arts' Cristóbal Rojas. After studying at the Institute of Graphic Design at the Neumann Foundation, he enrolled in the School of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain specializing in painting. He developed his career primarily in paintings of the human form, especially portraits of the human self and the soul of man, portraying classic images of our contemporary world. He began exhibiting his work in 1985 and his talent has been rewarded with numerous awards, including First Prize for Painting at the Biennale Art Barquisimeto (Lara, Venezuela); Second Prize in the National Arts Biennial of Visual Arts (Caracas, Venezuela) and his art is displayed in the Juan Lovera Award Hall of Visual Arts “Arturo Michelena.”
